সূরা যিল্যাল(আরবি: سورة الزلزلة) মুসলমানদের ধর্মীয় গ্রন্থ কুরআনের ৯৯ তম সূরা, এর আয়াত সংখ্যা ৮ টি এবং এর রূকুর সংখ্যা ১। যিলযাল সূরাটি মদিনায় অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে।
এই সূরার বিষবস্তু হচ্ছে, মৃত্যুর পর মানুষের পরকালের জীবনের সূত্রপাত কিভাবে হবে এবং মানুষের জন্য তা হবে কেমন বিস্ময়কর ও সেখানে দুনিয়ায় করা সমস্ত কাজের হিসাব মানুষের সামনে এসে যাওয়া। হযরত আবী হাতেম হযরত আবু সাঈদ খুদরী থেকে যে রেওয়ায়েতটি উদ্ধৃত করা হয়েছে তাতে বলা হয়েছেঃ যখন আয়াতটি নাযিল হয় তখন আমি রসূলুল্লাহ্-কে বললাম, হে আল্লাহর রসূল! আমি কি আমার আমল দেখবো? তিনি জবাব দিলেন, হাঁ। আমি বললাম, এই বড় বড় গুণাহগুলিও দেখবো? জবাব দিলেন, হাঁ। বললাম, আর এই ছোট ছোট গুণাহগুলিও? জবাব দিলেন, হাঁ। একথা শুনে আমি বললাম, তাহলে তো আমি মারা পড়েছি। তিনি বললেন, আনন্দিত হও, হে আবু সাঈদ কারণ প্রত্যেক নেকী তার নিজের মতো দশটি নেকীর সমান হবে।[১]
The surah begins by describing how on the Day of Judgment, the Earth will give off a terrible earthquake and "throw up her burdens". Through the inspiration of God, the Earth will bear witness to the actions of men it has witnessed. According to Michael Sells, the earth opening up and bearing forth her secrets in this sura is indicative of a birth metaphor. The earth al-'Ard in the feminine gender bears forth of how her lord revealed the final secret to her. Human beings will then realize that the moment of accountability has arrived. This meticulous accountability will reflect good and evil deeds that might have seemed insignificant at the time.[2]
The two concluding verses state that all men will be sorted out into groups according to their deeds, and they will see the consequence of everything they have done; every atom's weight of good or evil:
That day mankind will issue forth in scattered groups to be shown their deeds.And whoso doeth good an atom's weight will see it then,And whoso doeth ill an atom's weight will see it then.— The Qur'an, verses 99:6-8 (translated by Marmaduke Pickthall)
