He is a maternal fetal medicine specialist, who trained in obstetrics and gynecology at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, and did his clinical fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine New York Medical College. He now serves as the Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Stony Brook Medicine.

Our guest, Dr. Terplan, is the Addiction Medicine Consultant for Virginia Medicaid and a consultant for the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare. He is a Senior Physician Research Scientist at Friends Research Institute and adjunct faculty at the University of California, San Francisco where he is a Substance Use Warmline clinician for the Clinical Consultation Center.
