Introducing the AI on Campus: Students' Perspectives Podcast and the Team

Welcome to the "AI on Campus: Students' Perspectives" podcast. In our inaugural episode, Angélica Rísquez, David Moloney, Rob Dalton, and Erin King outline the reasons for initiating this podcast. Additionally, student member Síoda McCarthy will contribute their insights in an upcoming episode.

The goals of this podcast are as follows:

  • Promote AI Literacy: By presenting practical examples of student engagement with AI tools, we aim to enhance understanding among faculty of both the advantages and challenges of Generative AI (GAI).
  • Inspire Innovation: We encourage educators to develop innovative and authentic assessment methods that leverage AI technologies to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Student Empowerment: Through a 'students as partners' approach, this project places students at the forefront of educational discussions, empowering them to share their knowledge.
  • Bridge Faculty-Student Gaps: We address the 'them versus us' mentality positively, discussing the role of GAI in education.
  • Cultivate Academic Integrity: We emphasize the importance of upholding academic standards in the digital age.

Throughout the series, our team will explore issues related to GAI, including biases, tools, ethical concerns, digital literacy, and the broader impacts on higher education.
