This episode of Airmic Talks was recorded in Dublin where we recently held the Airmic Island of Ireland Conference on 19 November. The event had speakers across a range of topics, including geopolitics and captives, tariffs and sustainable building practices, and parametrics and the local insurance market. In this episode, Richard interviews three of the speakers at the conference. First, we will hear from Mike Matthews, Commercial Director for EMEA & APAC at Artex Risk Solutions, on recent activity in Ireland’s captive market. Richard is then joined by Hugh Governey, manager of market development at Lloyd’s, who provides a tribute to Eamonn Egan, a well-known and respected insurance Ieader in Ireland, Lloyd’s country manager for Ireland since 2008 and a close friend of Airmic’s. Eamonn sadly passed away in June this year, and is missed greatly by the team at Airmic. And last but not least, we hear from Robert Tyrell, General Manager at Campion insurance brokers, on the SME market for insurance and priorities for Irish small to medium sized businesses.

Airmic Talks ESG: Sean McGovern, CEO for UK & Lloyd's at AXA XL
Airmic's latest podcast series will be featuring prominent thought leaders on the topic of ESG within the risk and insurance community. Richard Cutcher will be joined by risk and insurance experts providing different perspectives on how organisations and their partners can tackle ESG challenges and opportunities head on. In our first episode, Richard is joined by Sean McGovern, CEO for the UK and Lloyd’s at AXA XL. Sean has shown himself to be particularly passionate about the ESG topic and the role insurers will have to play in supporting the transition of clients. Sean goes on to discuss how AXA XL are integrating ESG thinking into its own operational and underwriting strategies, but first we discuss the UK ESG Forum, which AXA XL is hosting on the 17th May. AXA XL’s UK ESG Forum will bring together leaders from across the London Market, to consider and debate the role of the insurance industry in helping to drive the ESG agenda in the UK. Leaders in ESG from across the insurance industry - including representatives from other insurers, brokers and clients, Lloyd’s and industry trade bodies - will gather for a mixture of keynotes, seminars and workshops centered on exploring opportunities to further confront ESG-related issues and support our clients on their own ESG journeys. Airmic promotes and supports the planning, undertaking and subsequent recording, of Continuous Professional Development (CPD), and like, many Airmic activities, listening to Airmic Talks is eligible for CPD hours and points, subject to the CPD scheme you belong to. We anticipate an individual on average being able to claim 30 minutes per edition of Airmic Talks when listened to in full. Visit the Airmic website: www.airmic.com/
