A Prayer of Faith in Time of Distress
PSALMS 6
A psalm of David.
1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.
2Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint;
heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.
3My soul is in deep anguish.
How long, Lord, how long?
4Turn, Lord, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.
5Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
Who praises you from the grave?
6I am worn out from my groaning.
All night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears.
7My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.
8Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the Lord has heard my weeping.
9The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;
they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.
All Prayed Up:
Dear Heavenly Father,
In my distress, I turn to you, just as the Psalmist did in Psalm 6. Hear my voice, O Lord, for I am weary and in need of your mercy and grace.
Like the Psalmist, I may feel overwhelmed at times, burdened by the challenges and trials that life presents. But I know that you are a compassionate and loving God who hears the cries of your children.
Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath, but rather, in your unfailing love, have mercy on me. Heal my soul, when it is troubled. Grant me the peace that surpasses understanding, knowing that you are my refuge and strength.
I lay my burdens before you, Lord, trusting that you will hear my prayers and answer according to your will. Help me to endure with patience and faith, for I know that your timing is perfect.
May your light shine upon me, dispelling the darkness of despair, and may your grace sustain me through every trial. I place my trust in you, O Lord, for you are my rock and my salvation.
