Satsriakal, my names Amma and I’m a brown girl.

I’m here to share my wonderful experiences of growing up in a desi household!

The aim is to create a better platform for brown voices as each episode focuses on topics our society avoids talking about.

Tune in to hear me challenge societal norms, my insightful awakenings and how my taboo life experiences are shared by many.

If you want to see my beautiful bootha, I have uploaded the video episodes to YouTube, and I will be doing a few episodes in Punjabi for my desi brothers and sisters.

Thank you for listening in!

1947 PARTITION 🇮🇳🇵🇰

1947 PARTITION 🇮🇳🇵🇰

Today’s episode was close to my heart. I recently read my first ever fiction book called baby does a runner, by Anita Rani and it really stuck with me. The book covered the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947 which was one of the greatest mass migrations in history where the horrific effects are felt even today.

It’s no surprise that history repeats itself and the violence taking place across the earth is heartbreaking. Free Palestine.

Through reading this book, I was able to uncover my own family secrets and stories, it pushed me to question my parents about the partition and how it affected their parents, and I believe conversations as such should be happened more often.

Have a listen and feel free share to share your stories, my dms are always open!
