Exploring Bugs Bunny's Most Extreme Antics in 'Rebel Rabbit (1949)'!
Video version available on YouTube. Please note that certain sections may not translate well to the audio only format.  In this detailed review, we dive into the classic 1949 Looney Tunes short 'Rebel Rabbit,' directed by Robert McKimson. Joined by Manny Cruz, we explore the hilarious premise where Bugs Bunny rebels against his low bounty and wreaks havoc to prove his worth. We discuss various trivia, like references to historical figures and the use of live-action footage, which remains a mystery. The musical cues by Carl Stalling are analysed, adding layers to the cartoon experience. Our discussion also touches on the cultural impressions and the gags in the short, such as the iconic Florida joke, and includes a historical tidbit about the Panama Canal. Despite concluding with Bugs in Alcatraz, 'Rebel Rabbit' impresses with its extreme humour and animation, earning a high score from both of us.   00:00 Welcome and Introduction 00:49 Rebel Rabbit Overview 01:42 Trivia and References 04:15 Musical Cues and Appreciation 06:36 Inflation and Bounty Analysis 08:50 Bugs' Havoc and Animation Insights 12:40 Historical Context and Personal Reflections 20:32 Final Thoughts
