Artspeak Radio with Harold Smith
Artspeak Radio, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, 9am -10am CST, 90.1fm KKFI Kansas City Community Radio, streaming live audio www.kkfi.org Producer/host Maria Vasquez Boyd presents painter/curator Harold Smith. HAROLD SMITH- Art can be more profoundly understood when experienced in context of the physical culture which birthed it. The UrbanKore Art Exposition will present artistic voices from the urban core of Kansas City, both Kansas and Missouri sides. This one day exposition is designed to connect these fresh and vibrant artistic voices with new collectors and galleries. It is hoped that these connections will increase the presence of artists from disenfranchised communities in artistic collections and institutions. It is also an opportunity to visit the historic Quindaro neighborhood including the Quindaro Ruins Townsite, the former sight of Brown University - the first college for blacks west of the Mississippi, and the Quindaro Underground Railroad Museum. Down Quindaro Avenue itself you can visit Wilson's Pizza, Ms. R's Soul Food Cafe, Parkwood Park, and imagine a time when it was filled with stores, and people, and laughter, and prosperity. UrbanKort Art Exposition happening Saturday, October 25, 2025, 11am – 6pm The Quindaro Community Center located at 2726 Brown Ave, Kansas City, KS 66104
