For centuries, Christians read the same Scriptures Jesus and the apostles used: Tobit. Wisdom. Sirach. Baruch. Maccabees. The very texts the New Testament quotes, echoes, and leans on. And yet today, millions hold a Bible missing the very books that: • record the origin of Hanukkah, which Jesus celebrated, • contain the messianic prophecy quoted at Calvary, • teach resurrection the way Jesus teaches resurrection, • and were copied, preached, and preserved by the early Church without controversy. It wasn’t the Catholic Church that changed the canon.
