El estado de Sinaloa, en México, está paralizado por una sangrienta guerra entre dos familias criminales. ¿Los bandos? Los Chapitos y los Mayiza, dos facciones del Cartel de Sinaloa, cada una liderada por los hijos de un fundador distinto.

El Cartel de Sinaloa ha ejercido durante décadas una enorme influencia en las comunidades sinaloenses. Pese a la constante amenaza de violencia, muchos terminaron por tolerar su autoridad criminal, ante la ausencia de una presencia sólida del Estado.

Pero la guerra entre ambas familias —desatada tras la captura de uno de los fundadores del Cartel, El Mayo— es profundamente personal y sumamente violenta, con civiles atrapados en el fuego cruzado como nunca antes.
