Is Rosario, Argentina Getting Safer? Depends Who We Asked.

For more than a decade, Rosario was the murder capital of Argentina. As gangs vied for control of the cocaine trade, turf wars often caught innocent bystanders in the crossfire.

The provincial government elected in 2023 set out to change that, and report that homicides, robberies, and other crimes are at record-lows. But residents of the poorest neighborhoods surrounding the city say that the peace touted by the data has not reached their gang-ridden neighborhoods. Here are their stories.
