How to Study the Bible
1. Set aside the time (schedule it)
2. Begin with Prayer or time of silence (ask God to speak or take time to ground yourself and realize you are about to read the Holy Scriptures)
3. Read it
4. Make some observations about what you read or what stood out to you
5. Interpret the text:
- Context: Author, history, who is the audience
- Word study: look up the meaning of keywords in the original language
- Commentaries to get additional insights and information
6. Apply the text (what is your takeaway)
7. Pray and ask God to seal what you’ve read and help you apply it to your life
