It was created in the midst of several global upheavals and a sudden loss of constant in-person connection. Back to Basics is about finding our way back to those connections in a new world. About finding and nurturing those connections through various events. In each season we'll be discussing the power of events/programming and community with various organizers, and sometimes little old me!

Our Why (And why you should care)

Why do we host an event? I mean why am I hosting this movie night over Zoom? Why are you hosting a wedding? Why do any of of us host any particular gathering?

This is a question we each need to ask ourselves. As hosts we have SO much to consider, but none is more important than your why! Your purpose! This purpose is what shapes your event for your community in the first place.

In this episode we explore "the why" in-depth and I give you some tips on how to get there, while explaining why this is the most important step of the planning process. Trust me, once you do this once you will do it twice, and then there's no going back.
