She was motivated by her mother's example to pursue education and improve patient care. The doctorate degree allowed her to have a greater influence in her role as a nurse practitioner and provided her with a seat at the leadership table at White Plains Hospital. She emphasized that while the degree was challenging, it has been worthwhile for her career advancement and patient care.
