Today we would like to celebrate fathers.
Importance of Fathers:
Here are a few lessons we can learn from fathers.
Examples of Fathers in the Bible:
- Adam: Lesson There are Consequences for Bad Behavior.
- Proverbs 20:7 Children are blessed if a father walks in integrity. The righteous who walk in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!
- Noah: Serving God and his obedience protected his family.
- Proverbs 14:26 - In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.
- Joseph: Choice to love and raise a son that was not his. Is an example of a man Stepping up and being obedient to what God has called him to do.
- Psalm 127: 3-5 Children are a blessing. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
- Moses: A leader and provider for the nation of Israel. Interceeded and gave wisdom and instruction to the People.
- Exodus 20:12 Honor your mother and father.
God Identifies himself as a Father
- Lost Son God is the Father that waits for his Son to return. Luke 15
- Jesus is my beloved Son
1 John 3:1 3 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
