The Feast of Unleavened Bread is mentioned a lot around the time of Jesus's crucifixion. Understanding it's timing is crucial to keeping track of the timing of things. Since God put all those time markers in there, it seems like it is worth paying attention. Leaven is mentioned in other significant ways in both Old and New Testament. Looking at it all together brings things into focus.
