Portugal. The Man is an American rock band that originated in Wasilla, Alaska, but is now based in Portland, Oregon. Known for their eclectic genre blend, the band has evolved from their roots in experimentaland indie rock to incorporate more accessible psychedelic pop elements. Portugal. The Man was founded by John Gourley and Zach Carothers following the dissolution of their previous band, Anatomy of a Ghost. From the start, Portugal. The Man was known for a strong work ethic, consistently releasing albums and touring extensively in their early years. Portugal. The Man soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their now RIAA-certified Platinum album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, “Feel It Still,” which earned the group a GRAMMY for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance,” a 7x RIAA Platinum certification, a record setting 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves. Portugal. The Man release new album "SHISH", out November 7 via KNIK, the band’s imprint on Thirty Tigers. On the new tracks, Gourley shares, “‘Mush’ is survival, connection, and ambition. SHISH finds Portugal.The Man on the edge of discovery. Earlier this summer, Portugal. The Man announced their upcoming ‘Denali’ Headline Tour slated for this fall. The tour will kick off on November 6th in Portland and will make stops in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York, D.C., and wrap up with a final show in Austin.
