Dr. Eben Alexnader is a Harvard trained American neurosurgeon and author. In 2008, he went under a medically-induced coma while being treated for meningitis. While in coma, he had a near-death experience (NDE), which he describes in his book: Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife. He asserts that the coma resulted in brain death, and that consciousness is not only a product of the brain, but it lives on in the afterlife. His latest book brings more science into the mix: Living in a Mindful Universe. Renee chats with Eben about his experiences, his views on how and why consciousness lives beyond life as we know it and why understanding this is fundamental to understanding our very existence.
