Meet Warren Ponder — a combat veteran turned trauma researcher with over 8.5 years of clinical experience treating PTSD, especially in military and first responder communities. After serving 15 months in Operation Iraqi Freedom as an infantryman, Warren used his battlefield experiences to shape his academic journey, earning a degree in psychology from Texas Tech and later completing both his thesis and dissertation in social work at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Warren has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and collaborated internationally with researchers from Denmark, Canada, New Zealand, and more than 15 universities. He’s also the co-developer of the EMDR-Negative Affect (EMDR-NA) protocol — an innovation in trauma treatment.
In this episode, we dive into his latest work on the Public Safety Employees Treatment Court (PSETC), the first justice-involved program in the U.S. tailored specifically for first responders. Warren brings a unique blend of real-world experience and advanced statistical research to the front lines of trauma care.
