Back at the brunch table picking up on part 2/2 of Elisabeth’s birth story.
Hendrix was just born via an unplanned c-section in Hull, Austria on Christmas Eve, after five long days of various induction attempts.
Elisabeth shares her experience of breastfeeding for the first time and doing a Christmas gift exchange with family in hospital while family came to meet the new baby.
She talks about symptoms after c-section that she wasn’t expecting like after birth contractions, having a catheter, length of recovery, and milk supply.
She continues to give us a glimpse into the healthcare system in Austria and how it contrasts with what she’s used to growing up in Canada.
Elisabeth ends the episode with a discussion of any regrets she has and things she wished she knew but overall describes it as a positive birthing experience and hopes to try for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) in a future pregnancy.
