The Seas Takes Its Tithe - Samhain Stories (Irish Mythology Podcast)
Conas taoi? How are ye? Welcome back to the Candlelit Tales podcast, where we tell Irish myths set to original music.
In this episode we’re getting into spooky season with a short, sharp tale originally collected by Lady Jane Wilde. The Good Neighbours were thought to take people from time to time, to bring them to their halls for feasting and merriment, leaving their mortal lives behind them. These tales hail from the western islands of Ireland, where fishing was a way of life and the sea was a harsh mistress.
Please note the content of these stories may be triggering for some listeners, please take care of yourself as you listen. This story contains allusions to death by drowning, poverty, and alienation.
