Career Congregation is your weekly gathering for all things career, a space to explore the highs, the lows, and the incredible stories of people who have navigated career challenges, stepped through fear, and found success and growth on the other side. Hosted by Therapist and Coach Meghan Fitzpatrick, each episode offers real-life inspiration for reclaiming confidence and direction in your work.
In this week’s episode, Meghan is joined by Sarah Barnes Humphrey, a storyteller, entrepreneur, and the founder and host of two podcasts: Let’s Talk Supply Chain and Blended. Sarah is also a fierce advocate for self-worth, inclusion, and authentic leadership. Her journey is one of resilience, identity, and rebuilding from the ground up.
Sarah shares her early experiences growing up in a family-run logistics business, the complex reality of working with entrepreneurial parents, and the defining moment that changed everything: the sudden closure of her family company in 2017. After decades of building her career there, Sarah found herself without a job, without a plan, and forced to rebuild her identity from scratch. She opens up about the grief, confusion and rock bottom moments that followed, as well as the courage it took to create a new path.
The conversation also explores Sarah’s lifelong health challenges with lipedema, a condition she spent more than 15 years fighting to get properly diagnosed. She shares the painful experiences of medical dismissal, the importance of self-advocacy, the role of holistic care, and the surgeries that changed her relationship with her body. Her story highlights how listening to yourself, trusting your instincts and refusing to accept inadequate answers can fundamentally change your life.
Sarah reflects on her evolution as a founder and creator, from side hustles and early experiments to building Let’s Talk Supply Chain into a global brand. She talks about mopping floors at a tennis club while running her podcast at night, working multiple part-time jobs to keep her dreams alive, and pushing through fear and rejection in sales. She also shares how she discovered her personal brand through one defining word: self-worth.
This episode is full of insight into entrepreneurship, identity shifts, money stories, starting over, and the emotional resilience required to rebuild your life and career when the unexpected forces you to begin again. Sarah’s story is an empowering reminder that your voice matters, that safe spaces change lives, and that it is never too late to redefine who you are and what you stand for.
