I'm 24 and Becoming Her is a Trend

In early 2021, the empowering "Becoming Her" trend emerged on TikTok, igniting a flame of self-confidence and transformation. This trend allowed users to create captivating videos that document their journey towards becoming more confident, empowered, and stylish versions of themselves. With outfit changes, makeup transformations, and a radiant boost in self-confidence, they showcased the art of self-evolution. This trend is a reminder that we all have the power to embrace change and reinvent ourselves. As trends ebb and flow on platforms like TikTok, they pave the way for new variations and exciting movements, making it a dynamic and ever-evolving space for self-expression and empowerment. By observing this trend you’ll see 4 things that women around the world are documenting: Celebrating Self-Discovery: Women are celebrating the journey of self-discovery and self-expression. Reminding us that personal growth is an ongoing process and that it's okay to evolve, change, and become the best version of oneself. Diversity of Expression: "Becoming Her" encourages a wide range of expressions. It's not about conforming to a specific beauty standard but about embracing individuality. Empowerment Through Creativity: Many individuals use creative means, like makeup and fashion, to express their evolving identities. This trend shows the power of creativity in boosting self-confidence and empowering people to be themselves. Influence on Self-Image: This trend can have a positive impact on self-image and self-esteem. It reminds people that they have the power to define and redefine themselves, fostering a sense of control over one's identity. Overall, the "Becoming Her" trend is a testament to the power of self-expression, self-love, and community support in today's digital age. It encourages women to embrace their uniqueness and reminds us that personal growth is a journey worth celebrating. We can argue that as much as we are expressing our best versions of ourselves online, we have to ask ourselves what is actually influencing us to think that “that version” is our best self… Another view: Pressure to Conform: You may feel pressured to conform to the trend's standards of beauty and self-expression. This pressure to fit in can have the opposite effect, leading to feelings of inadequacy. Comparison and Insecurity: Constant exposure to transformation videos and images can lead to unhealthy comparisons and heightened insecurities. Individuals might feel that they need to measure up to the transformations they see, which can negatively impact self-esteem. Focused on the outside: You can be so focused on appearing good by being overly fixated on physical transformations, neglecting other aspects of personal growth and well-being. As much as this trend is about empowering and inspiring which means obviously sharing how you’re becoming her, just be careful to not depend on external validation from people. Dependence on External Validation: Relying on external validation, such as likes and comments, can lead to a dependence on others' opinions for self-worth, which is not a sustainable or healthy approach to self-esteem. I am seeing a whole lot of young women do this trend, and I think it would be lovely to see how ageing is also part of Becoming Her: Overemphasis on Youth: The trend might inadvertently overemphasize the idea that youth and physical appearance are the most critical aspects of one's identity, potentially neglecting the value of wisdom and experience that come with age.
