Flint pastors want apology from councilman after ‘monkey in the room’ comment
Two prominent pastors are calling for a Flint council member to apologize after he questioned a colleague’s ability to preside over council meetings, calling her problems with maintaining order “the monkey in the room” during a meeting this week.
Pastors Chris Martin and Alfred Harris made the demand during a news conference on Thursday, Sept. 21, three days after 8th Ward Councilman Dennis Pfeiffer, who is white, directed the comment at 2nd Ward Councilwoman Ladel Lewis, who is Black.
