The Chofetz Chaim suggests giving a class dealing with the laws of Lashon Hara from a Halachic source for one who is looking to rectify their own sin of lashon hara. People often think of the sin of lashon hara as a lack in proper ethics but in truth we need to recognize that it is an actual prohibition from the Torah. The first Halacha is that the prohibition entitled "Lashon Hara" is specifically when the negative speech is true. When it is a distortion it falls under the different prohibition of "Motzei Shem Ra".
