Moody God has a vision for our lives. WHAT IS THE BULLSEYE WHEN IT COMES TO OUR FAITH IN JESUS? ONE / GIVE MY LIFE TO JESUS. Mark 8:34-38 NLT [34] Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. [35] If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. [36] And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? [37] Is anything worth more than your soul? [38] If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." To truly know God, we must surrender our lives to His will and ways and make Him the Lord of our lives. We need to spend time with Him every day through His Word, worship, and prayer. TWO / BE MADE NEW BY JESUS. 1 John 1:9 NLT But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. James 5:16 NLT Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Salvation happens in a moment, but transformation happens over time. We need to deal with our pasts once and for all. To do this, we go to God for forgiveness and to His people for healing. Proverbs 27:19 NLT As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person. Get in a group with godly friends. Get honest with a few of them about areas you need healing. THREE / BECOME LIKE JESUS. Galatians 4:19 NLT Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives. As disciples of Jesus, we live in His image, grow in the development of the gifts He’s given us, and do what He’s called us to do. We must develop spiritual disciplines like praying, fasting, Bible study, giving, etc. We need to discover spiritual gifts. FOUR / DO WHAT JESUS DID. Matthew 4:18-19 NLT [18] One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers-Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew-throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. [19] Jesus called out to them, "Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!" Jesus lived His life for others, and as followers of Jesus, we need to do what He did. Followers fish. We can share the Gospel and invite people to church. Followers serve. Our real purpose in life is to make a difference in the lives of others. When we do these things, God’s joy will be in us! John 15:8,11 NLT [8] When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. [11] I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! When we learn to be followers of Jesus in this way, we won’t just go through life and end up somewhere, we’ll end up somewhere on purpose.
