Fresh Start With God - The Narrow Road (The Big House Message)

LUKE 13:22-30 NLT

The Bible describes salvation as a gate or a door. The Greek word for salvation is Sozo. It is found over 100 times in the New Testament and is used to describe God’s healing power in an individual's life: body, mind, and spirit.

John 3:16-17 NLT [16] "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

THE DOOR OF SALVATION

ONE | THE DOOR IS OPEN BUT IT IS NARROW (V.24)

Jesus just crushed the false narrative that says many paths lead to God and that the door is wide.

TWO | THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY OPEN FOREVER (V.25-27)

JOB 14:5 NLT You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.

JAMES 4:14 NLT How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog-it's here a little while, then it's gone.

THREE | THE DOOR IS OPEN TO ALL (V.29-30)

Jesus does not discriminate. Jesus died for all and loves all.

ROMANS 2:11 NLT For God does not show favoritism.

You cannot clean yourself up before you come through the door; Jesus died for us because we are all imperfect people.

ROMANS 3:10 NLT As the Scriptures say, "No one is righteous- not even one.

ROMANS 3:23-26 NLT [23] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. [24] Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. [25] For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, [26] for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

FOUR | THE DOOR IS JESUS (JOHN 10:9)

John 10:9 NLT Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.

JOHN 14:6 NLT Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

This is what Jesus does. He takes broken people and makes them whole. He takes lost people and makes them found. He takes sinful people and makes them saved and forgiven.

ROMANS 10:9-11 NLT [9] If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. [11] As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced."

HAVE YOU ACCEPTED JESUS?
