Superheroes Collide: Marvel and DC's Historic Crossover Spectacular Captivates Comic Fans in 2025
The past few days in the comic book world have brought both historic crossover surprises and a whirlwind of new releases, making this one of the most exciting weeks for fans in 2025. Headlining the news is the unprecedented collaboration between Marvel and DC, the two publishing giants. Just as shops prepare for the arrival of Batman/Deadpool issue one from DC on November 19, fans are still buzzing over Marvel’s Deadpool/Batman special, which earlier this fall sold out and triggered a digital-first crossover initiative. Now, two new webcomics have landed online—Thor/Shazam! on Marvel Unlimited and The Flash/Fantastic Four on DC Universe Infinite—offering unique adventures that unite characters who’ve never shared pages before.

In Thor/Shazam!, written by Al Ewing and drawn by Jethro Morales, the god of thunder and the champion of Shazam square off against a magical usurper threatening both worlds. Readers get to see Donald Blake and Billy Batson attempting to regain their powers, in a story full of cosmic spectacle. Meanwhile, The Flash/Fantastic Four, penned by Jeremy Adams and illustrated by Adrián Gutiérrez, throws Barry Allen and Marvel’s first family into the Speed Force in a fast-paced battle to foil Gorilla Grodd’s mind control ambitions. Both webcomics are free to read with registration for the next 30 days, before moving behind their respective paywalls. To celebrate, Marvel and DC are offering subscribers exclusive codes for a 30-day trial to each other's premium services, marking a milestone in digital comic distribution.

The weekly haul of physical releases is just as stacked, with new entries from almost every major publisher. On November 12th, Batman Dark Patterns issue twelve by Dan Waters and Hayden Sherman was praised by reviewers as a standout pick, continuing its intricate noir storyline. Kari Andrews’s art in Rogue Storm issue two drew applause for keeping the series fun and energetic. Marvel’s Marvel Nights The World to Come issue four by Christopher Priest has also been singled out for its sharp writing, while Rob Liefeld’s Youngblood number one marks the return of a cult-favorite Image Comics franchise.

Transformers issue 26 by Robert Kirkman and Dan Moira saw Thundercracker making a major decision involving Skywarp, nudging the saga forward with solid storytelling. Elsewhere, G.I. Joe Real American Hero issue 322 delivers dependable nostalgia, keeping longtime fans engaged.

The November 19 release previews reveal an incredible spectrum: new Flash and Spider-Man stories, the highly anticipated Batman/Deadpool crossover, and inventive genre crossovers like Predator Kills the Marvel Universe and Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe. Variant covers abound, including multiple incentives for Amazing Spider-Man number sixteen and Captain America number five, appealing to collectors and casual fans alike.

With hundreds of titles from Marvel, DC, Image, Boom, and more hitting shelves this month, the energy in comic shops is palpable. As readers debate their favorite covers and speculate on potential future crossovers, it’s clear that comic book storytelling is in a moment of creative boom and cross-pollination, making this a golden time to dive back into the world of superheroes, monsters, and cosmic adventures.
