The Lord of the Rings & Mortal Engines screenwriter and producer, Philippa Boyens, joins me in the chat cave this week. Philippa grew up reading the Tolkien books from cover to cover, in the West of Auckland. Never did she dream that she would get a call from Peter Jackson, with an offer to come on board his team to adapt The Lord of the Rings into a screenplay - the tip of the iceberg being a 2004 Academy Award. Her filmography elevates her into the category of "Film Royalty", such is the pedigree of her portfolio - the latest of which is Mortal Engines, which opens in Australian cinemas Thursday December 6th.
