Black Men Matter Series: Changing the Narrative on Black Fatherhood | The Power of Community: guest Matt Prestbury

In this episode of The Male Perspective, Lana Reid sits down with Matt Prestbury - founder of the Facebook community “Black Fathers.” Established in 2008, the group has grown to over 100,000 members, serving as a positive and empowering space that celebrates the joys and challenges of fatherhood while dismantling long-held stereotypes about Black men as parents.

Matt opens up about his personal journey—the experiences that led him to create a community where Black fathers could feel seen, supported, and connected. Driven by a desire to shift the narrative, he envisioned a space where men could share their stories, uplift one another, and remind the world that involved, loving, and responsible Black fathers aren’t rare exceptions—they’re the norm.
