Conversations on B L I S S: Episode 3 with Rambisayi Marufu

For Episode 3 of Conversations on B L I S S Evan Ifekoya is joined by Rambisayi Marufu for a conversation on Reclaiming energy work (and hair!).

Rambisayi (Rambi) is a holistic healing practitioner, sister to many and plant mama. Rambi is also a student of visual anthropology with a focus on African Diasporic lived experiences. Through a Black feminist lens Rambi’s multi-modal collaborative research explores Black womxn’s hair as a site of intersecting structures of power that are always gendered and racialised, and it’s potential as a  site of care and healing.

She says :

Also a student of Black feminist anthropology my practice is grounded in knowing that our individual bodies are bound to each other’s and to structures and systems that dictate the quality of our lives. Our communities cannot be well until we make the space to heal and our healing cannot happen outside of community.

Reclaiming energy work feels like an appropriate topic for us to discuss because of our shared belief that we inherit the tools for the work from our Ancestors,  a  commitment to exploring what it means to be of service and dreaming as liberatory practice.
