The modern era of music has given way to enigmas and artists of all shapes and forms who break the norm of what we have come to expect as far as what an artist truly is.

Damien Horton is one such artist that epitomises the essence of the modern era. A multi-talented author, motivational speaker, singer-songwriter and guitarist from Adelaide, South Australia. Damien creates music that is both vulnerable and powerful, driven by a desire to help others reconnect with their emotions and heal. He published his first book in 2018 titled “45 Seconds - How Almost Dying Saved My Life”.

Damien began playing guitar at the age of 8 when his mother taught him how to play “The House of the Rising Sun” and his love for music only grew. Damien is the encapsulation of tenacity, perseverance and overcoming adversity. He battled years of depression after his parents divorced when he was 3 years old. Damien was later involved in a severe car crash at the age of 24. He broke his back in multiple places and needed his face reconstructed with titanium plates and screws. This trying period of evolution and metamorphosis led to the growth of Damien’s creativity and undeniable talent. To express through his music is his greatest gift and it helped him though the healing process. Because of his experiences, he has developed a style of songwriting that is transparent and emotive, turning his pain into purpose and his lessons into studio sessions.

Damien has drawn musical inspiration from the likes of Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, The Beatles, Dave Mathews Band and The Tea Party. He uses his music as a vehicle to express his unique perspectives and process his feelings about life, love, and loss. Having healed himself from addiction, depression and self-hate, his overarching ambition is to reconnect people to their true emotions and inspire them to reach for their dreams.

Damien released the single 'Footsteps’ in 2019 which was well received – reaching number 2 on the JJJ Unearthed charts. More recently he recorded 2 new EPs with Jeff Martin from The Tea Party. This year he will be releasing more music that will showcase his lyricism in uniquely constructed pieces of musical artistry. His music exhibits his versatility and vocal prowess and has surely cemented his style and has paved the way for the varied expressions of his musical ideas and artistic craft.  This is the music that will push the boundaries of our perception and inspire and drive us to ask for more from the beautiful gift that is this life.
