Coronavirus conveyancing: Mortgage companies FREEZE new mortgages - CONVEYANCING PODCAST EPISODE 6

Welcome to Conveyancing Podcast Episode 6.

Matthew and Thomas explore the weekly news roundup in the Conveyancing world.

In today's podcast the first article from the Law Society Gazette reports a sharp increase in people preparing new wills due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The second article which also comes from the Law Society Gazette looks at a case where a Conveyancing firm has been accused and acquitted of negligence by property developers.

The third article brought to you again by the Law Society Gazette looks at the Coronavirus guidance published for Conveyancers by the Law Society.

The fourth article comes from the Solicitors Regulation Authority and looks at recent improvements in minority representation and diversity in Law firms.  Much work is still needed in this area.

The fifth article comes from Legal futures which examines how Conveyancing firms have been advised to delay any completions until after the lockdown except in particular special circumstances.

The sixth article from the BBC talks about the decision by mortgage companies to stop giving out further loans due to the coronavirus crisis except where buyers can provide a significant up front deposit of 25% or more.

The Daily Mail bring us the seventh article which similarly examines mortgage companies stance on giving out mortgages during the crisis pointing to some lenders requiring 40% deposits.

Our eighth article also from the Daily Mail examines the plight of some families affected by Conveyancing firms not being able to complete matters during this time.

The ninth article brought to us by the Evening Standard Homes and Property section looks at how the buy-to-let market is shifting its focus from AirBnB holiday rentals to short term rentals in light of the recent travel restrictions.  This has allowed significant cost savings due to more stock available.

Finally on a lighter note Country Life magazine shows us inside a 1.8 million pound farmhouse with three trout ponds.  This is the perfect self sufficient hideaway to spend the lockdown.

Thanks again for tuning in and we hope you enjoyed the show.
