2025 Marriage Retreat - Session 2 - Unity
Session 2: Unity in Marriage (Philippians 2:14–16) In this second session of our Marriage Conference series, we build on the foundation of humility and turn to Paul’s words in Philippians 2:14–16: “Do all things without grumbling or disputing.” If humility is the soil where unity grows, then grumbling and disputing are the termites that destroy it. In marriage, it’s not usually the big dramatic blowups that erode intimacy, but the quiet complaints, the sarcastic remarks, the constant need to be right. Left unchecked, these patterns corrode trust and turn covenant love into competition. In this message, we’ll look at why Paul takes grumbling so seriously, how it undermines unity in marriage, and what it means to replace a spirit of complaint with a posture of gratitude. Along the way, you’ll find practical tools to handle disagreements with grace, speak words that build up instead of tear down, and pursue a shared purpose in Christ. Unity in marriage isn’t about uniformity—it’s about harmony, two voices tuned to the same key: the gospel of Jesus Christ. As husbands and wives hold fast to the Word of Life, their marriages become a testimony of light in a world that desperately needs to see the love of Christ.
