What's the Craic? Craic is a beer community that champions independent Irish beer, and showcases the amazing talents of brewers all across the island of Ireland. We've been running a range of online and in-person events over the past few years, which have helped beer fans to connect with breweries, hear a bit about their story, and most importantly, taste some of their delicious brews.

We also have a social community platform where you can get involved in the beery chats, and keep up to date with events and general news from around the Irish beer scene.

The aim of the community is to provide a welcoming space where beer fans can chat, learn about beer, and connect with others. Join us to expand your beer knowledge, engage with our community of beer fans, and have a bit of craic while you’re at it!

The Craic Beer Community Podcast features a range of beery chats with guests from all around the Irish beer scene. We chat about everything from beer travel to homebrewing, and loads more in between.

Beer Destination: Dublin 8

In Beer Destination: Dublin 8 we take a stroll around D8, and chat with the people who make the independent beer scene tick.

My first stop is at the Rascals HQ Brewery & Taproom, located in Inchicore. Here I sit down with co-founder Cathal O'Donoghue to hear all about Rascal's story to date, their plans for the future, and everything else in between.

Next up, I make my way towards the city centre, and my next stop in Rialto. I find myself with a few minutes to spare before my next interview, and can't help but pop my head into the Mace SCR Off Licence. Located at the back of the store is a hidden treasure trove of exceptional beer. After picking up a few brews, I make the short stroll to The Circular, located on South Circular Road. It's here I sit down to chat with co-owner John Mahon.

My third and final stop is a short stroll from The Circular, in the direction of Dolphins Barn. Located in a small, tucked away industrial unit, behind the Jurassic Park-style gates (as described by Shane Kelly himself), lies the Dot Brew warehouse. Renowned for crafting a stunning range of barrel aged beers, Dot Brew has been at the forefront of innovation in the Irish beer scene since 2016. It's here where I sit with Dot Brew founder Shane Kelly, and ask him to introduce himself, and to tell us a little bit about Dot Brew.
