On this episode, Curtis Sliwa discusses historical figures known for their contributions to animal welfare, introduces the wide-reaching impact of the podcast, and emphasizes the importance of spreading its message. He highlights his key campaign platforms, including no-kill shelters, animal abuser incarceration, and tax exemption for animal food, while criticizing his political opponents for their lack of focus on animal welfare. Sliwa critiques New York City's handling of animal care, the shortcomings of the animal shelter system, and the inefficiencies of the Animal Care and Control group. He delves into his strategies for improving animal welfare as mayor, including the innovative idea of using vacant storefronts for animal adoption centers.
