Later, Hescox is presented with a Golden Lion award and speaks during the 2007 Dum -Dum banquet in Louisville, Kentucky. “I probably would not have been an illustrator were it not for my love of Edgar Rice Burroughs,” he says. Hescox describes his lifelong love of Burroughs and how he came to do the Venus covers.
