Smole dives into the black water to haul Dug back from the brink, Tessa and Aeress pour what healing they have left into their friends, and Reeko risks his own safety to recover a torch steeped in void-cold magic that wants to unmake anything that touches it. As the boats drift out of the worst of the darkness, the party shares cloak, fire, and shaken laughter, trying to decide whether what saved them was luck, teamwork, or something stranger. When the river finally spills them onto a narrow strip of sand, they discover clear signs that the missing firefrost barrels reached this shore first and were dragged inland toward the mountains. Exhausted, half-frozen, and still surrounded by unknown threats, Team Gamma takes one brief chance to breathe, recover, and prepare for whatever is waiting up the trail.
