The #DiversityAU podcast series explores key focus areas in Aarhus University’s work to promote diversity and gender equality. The second season is out now and focuses on AU’s action plan for gender equality 2020-2022. Zooming in on the four focus areas of the action plan - recruitment, career development, leadership and workplace culture - Danish journalist Carsten Ortmann interviews four experts on each of these areas. The second season aims to inspire and provide practical advice on how to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the action plan.

Cecilia Ramlau-Hansen: ”Jeg kan ikke forestille mig et andet sted end her ved universitetet, hvor jeg vil passe bedre ind”
I tredje afsnit af #DiversityAU-podcast fortæller Cecilia Ramlau-Hansen om sin forskerkarriere og om sin rejse fra bioanalytiker til professor på Aarhus Universitet.
Hendes samtale med journalist Nynne Bjerre Christensen kommer blandt andet ind på konkurrencen i den akademiske verden – og muligheden for et alternativ til de nuværende parametre for at måle kvalitet i forskning.
Ramlau-Hansen fremhæver den betydning mentorer og vejledere har haft for hendes karriereforløb. En betydning hun nu selv forsøger at have for de unge forskere, hun vejleder på instituttet.
Samtalen kommer desuden ind på vigtigheden af udlandsophold og forskningsfinansiering. Samtidig diskuteres det, om det øgede krav om udlandsophold og det nuværende finansieringssystem ligefrem kan hæmme kvindelige forskeres karriereforløb.
Slutteligt kommer samtalen ind på balancen mellem karriere- og familieliv inden Ramlau-Hansen giver et par gode råd til unge, kvindelige forskere, der selv overvejer en karriere i academia.
