E7. Bullying & hazing - prevalence in sports surprising?

All this attention about bullying - c’mon, are kids maybe just too sensitive and are things really that bad? The short answers are No. And YES.

Truth is, it really is prevalent. Not only do we see alarmingly high rates of bullying and hazing at all levels of sport, we also see it in any and all other arenas in which kids form groups, from band kids to sororities.

In this episode we talk about the differences between bullying and hazing - we define what exactly they are, and we offer some surprising statistics regarding prevalence at the highest levels of youth and elite sports. More importantly, we discuss what parents can do - and what not to do - and share with you some of our favorite resources.
