Ep. 1: Language Revitalisation and Linguistic Ideologies with Gerald Roche

This episode features Dr Gerald Roche, anthropologist and Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University, Melbourne. As an applied anthropologist,  he has collaborated with people in Tibet on various educational and cultural initiatives, including in the creation of the world's largest online archive of oral traditions from the Tibetan Plateau, and the publication of the first nationally-distributed English language textbooks designed specifically for Tibetans. ELNI members chat with Dr Roche about language politics and ideologies and how these connect with language revitalisation.

Episode transcripts are available at our website.
