
Dr. Teatulohi Matainah from the Pacific Adventist University in Papua New Guinea discusses the future of learning in XR and the Metaverse.
Professor Teatulohi (Lohi) Matainaho
Appointed in September 2021 as Vice Chancellor of the Pacific Adventist University, Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prior to his appointment, he was for 8 years, the Chairman of the PNG Science and Technology Council, and Chief Science Advisor to the Government. He was therefore instrumental in the setting up of the PNG Science and Technology Council and its Secretariat (Office of Science & Technology), and coordinated policy discussions in the development of national science, technology and innovation policies. His role as Chief Science Advisor was vital in informing government on the merit of science-based information and scientific data in policy decision making.
Lohi Matainaho has a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Queensland, Australia and held positions as professor of basic medical sciences and pharmacology at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and dean of research at the University of Papua New Guinea. He also has adjunct appointment with the University of Utah, USA, and James Cook University, Australia. His research interest has been in drug discovery in biodiversity and marine products, and snakebite anti-venom.
