והפעם בפקטואליה יצטרף אלינו אלעד גביאן סטודנט בבית ברל שקרא להניף את דגל ישראל במכללה במהלך מבצע שומר החומות ומאז עבר מסכת של התנכלות, חרם ואף הותקף על ידי סטודנט ערבי. במהלך מתן עדות בכנס בנושא "חופש הביטוי באקדמיה", אלעד גביאן הציג חולצה מגואלת בדם וסיפר, "חטפנו בבית ברל גם במבצע שומר החומות. 52 אנשי סגל שלחו מכתב תמיכה במחבלים. שלחתי עצומה לתלות דגל ישראל בכניסה למכללה. כאשר העלתי את הנושא לשיח הם תלו מהר דגלים. מסתבר שהנפת דגל ישראל זה לבחור צד. זימנו אותי לשיחה עם מנכ"ל המכללה ועשה לי שיחת השתקה. נמנע ממני להגיע לשיעורים ולעשות פעילויות הקשורות לעבודה. כל זה כי ביקשתי לתלות את דגל מדינת ישראל. תקפו אותי בגלל שבקשתי שיתלו דגל ישראל. יש פה מלחמת עצמאות שקטה".
