Ons het ‘n kans gewaag… en nou sit ons in die Eat Out San Pellegrino & Acqua Panna Chef of the year 2019 se “humble kantoor” in Stellenbosch – die uwe BERTUS BASSON. In meeste van ons episodes fokus ons op klein besighede en side hustles, maar Bertus Basson is die ewebeeld van suskses en waar meeste van ons graag sal wil uitkom. Ons het met Bertus gaan gesels in sy “Empire Headquarters” in sy restaurant, Eike, wat ook dien as ‘n produksiekombuis. Bertus se Empire bestaan uit Overture, Eike, Spek & Bone, De Vrije Burger, The Deck op die plaas Hidden Valley en selfs ‘n spysenierings besigheid, Abundance Catering. Vandag is Bertus ‘n huishoudelike naam in Suid-Afrika, met ses televisie programme wat hy al aangebied het soos Braai Master, Chef Huis, Goed Beter Bertus en die mees onlangste, In die Sop.
Bo alles is Bertus ‘n lieflike human being wat glo jy moet jouself met goeie mense omring. Hy is ook ‘n familieman wat lief is vir ‘n eenvoudige Saterdagmiddag braai met braaibroodjies en 'n McDonald'sburger nou en dan. Geniet die episode, Bertus se goeie gees en al sy wyshede!
