S2 E22: How Do You Check Your Assumptions?

Our brains are fundamentally lazy. They are designed to conserve energy. This makes it very easy to make assumptions and jump to conclusions. There are always two sides to every story and as a leader or manager is it very important to check your assumptions and explore why other people see things very differently to you. A useful model for doing this is the Ladder of Inference. This short video gives a quick overview of the model and how you can use it to check your thinking and the thinking of others. Food for Thought: ❓What assumptions are you making about the people you work with? ❓How can regular use of this model help you become a better leader? I look forward to seeing your thoughts and comments about how we make assumptions. Being a leader or manager can be tough. We understand that and provide powerful insights and simple models that can help you develop new mindsets, habits and behaviours. So you can get the results you want. If you are interested in learning more about our unique and pragmatic approach that uses behavioural analytics and the latest thinking from the field of applied neuroscience to shift behaviour and organisational culture in just 12 months, please get in touch. #Leadership #Assumptions #Decisions #Performance #Management
