Seeing as it would have been his 50th birthday in a few weeks and the 4th anniversary of his passing on monday (28th Oct), I thought it'd be appropriate to record a tribute mix for our long lost soul brother Dan J. The Sheffield legend who taught me how to mix without ever intentionally doing so. The dad that I never had. The man that imparted so much wisdom on a very naive student. Always smiling, dancing, joking and encouraging. Picked out a load of tunes that remind me of Dan and that reflect a certain time in my life, living with both him and Mike at Huddle HQ, watching them do radio shows, smoking massive spliffs, Ronnie & Reggie, photographing all the best gigs in Sheff, working at the Harley and getting absolutely battered with Dan whilst we were both "working". An absolutely mega period in my life with so many memories linked to him and his amazing music. Could've mixed for hours, missed so many tunes... maybe I'll do another one sometime! Thanks for all the life lessons and fucking funny times brother. Hope you're digging the mix with a bottle of of vino up above! Rest in tonk Widge, love Yoof xxx

Funk Drunk Records Podcast #23 S.L.B
So, after three years of living in France and sporadically playing music, I finally have our first FDR mix hailing from the place I now call home. I met S.L.B (Steph) whilst on my first summer season working in the south near Frejus. He told me he was a DJ and that him and his friends put parties on during the summer. I unfortunately missed their first party of the season due to stupidly spraining my ankle. Every time I saw him I nagged him for a mix, he eventually cracked I went round to his, saw his Condesa Lucia and his records and we made a night of it with the rest of the campsite staff, a rare chance for the French and English staff to socialise together. After several other parties the winter season soon arrived, we stayed in touch and spoke a lot about music. Before we knew it the next summer had arrived and whilst I was working a little further away, he welcomed me down to play his parties with open arms and the trip always proved worth while. Et Voila... Here we are with a super deep and groovy mix from S.L.B of Mira Belle Sound, a perfect example of how music and vinyl keep people together. Cheers Mate!! Merci Steph!
