A native of Haiti, Dr. Carter Charles converted to the church in his teens, then lived, served, and studied throughout the Caribbean, French Guiana, and Bordeaux, France before teaching church history and foreign languages at BYU. He knows the Caussé family (including buying Jean and Marie-Blanche Caussé's used car, among other stories) and has interacted with Elder Caussé multiple times in France and in French and Haitian Creole church units in Utah.
