Greatness Adjacent

I started this podcast with my dear friend Mondi, but she decided she’s happy, for now, to be home with her gorgeous kids. So, I’m flying solo. Greatness Adjacent is a mini deep-dive with people around me who are doing all sorts of inspiring things. I want to hear about their journeys, what the road to here was like for them. I love it all: the failures and missteps along the way that lead to the best pivots, the successes that came later, the discovery of an unexpected calling when life serves up its inevitable surprises, the victory of sheer sticktoitiveness after years of grit work and the easy breezy paths when sometimes personal gifts are just obvious. These stories empower me to keep trying to figure out what my thing is, to go after that and to stay open to change.

Alison Van Pelt: The Magic Blur

Alison Van Pelt: The Magic Blur
Big Deal alert for me. Alison Van Pelt is a contemporary artist of exceptional everything. Her skill, her eye, her signature magic blur, her paintings feel 3-dimensional and alive. She’s a treasured American painter who was always drawing as a child but never thought it could be a profession. Her story is such a good one. She shares how, first, Francis Bacon’s works then a quote by him, led her to her lightbulb moment. The moment was when she found her process, which she describes so generously with me. I could gaze at her work, especially the horses, all day. She’s featured in many museums and serious private collections. I’m still counting my lucky stars she came and spoke with me…and then was the sweetest person ever, to top it off Unicorn status.
