Welch used his combat experience to influence the development and deployment of mission-critical technologies such as BAE Systems’ engine controls, doppler navigation systems, armor panels, and the Common Missile Warning System, which improved safety and operational effectiveness for military personnel. He also witnessed the introduction of the APKWS laser-guidance kit for precision targeting. Welch now works to ensure military technology meets user needs and builds trust among service members.
