It is challenging running an Accounting firm in Australia these days. Keeping up to date with constant legislative changes, a need for specialist input, adapting to new technology, dealing with cybersecurity and ensuring excellent client service are only some of the ongoing issues.

That's why we have created a podcast, specifically designed to provide advice to accounting practices who might not have the resources or time to be across all of the needs of their clients.

Each episode will feature one of our Partners/Senior Executives focusing on a particular area of their expertise.

Episode 7: Changes to Financial Reporting, particularly for “for profit entities” that lodge special purpose financial reports with ASIC including AFSL holders

Join us in this podcast episode where our host Andrew Ford interviews the Director at Nexia Melbourne, Ben Bester.

In this episode, we first dive into Ben’s journey to becoming the Director at Nexia Melbourne. We then introduce this episode’s advice for accountants, where Ben outlines the changes happening the financial reporting regime, particularly for “for profit entities” that lodge special purpose financial reports. These changes mean that most companies that reported to a corporate regulator are now required to prepare a General Purpose financial statement, which includes significant additional detail compared to the previously used Special Purpose reports.

Ben has over 25 years’ experience in providing external audit services and CFO services to a broad range of clients in both the private and public sector. His extensive audit experience was gained with listed entities, VAGO, large non –reporting entities, not for profits entities, incorporated associations, and covered industries such as manufacturing, retail, education, health, clubs, associations, and self-managed superfunds.
